Gabriel is a Canadian filmmaker from Yellowknife in northern Canada. He is currently based in Whitehorse YT, Canada. His filmography consists of short narrative, documentary, and animation. His fields of interest also include experimental film, storyboarding, and animation.
Gabriel began working as a part-time production assistant at The Film House in Doha, Qatar, when he was 16, moving on to a full-time internship.
His first Super 8 film, "Monolith", was one of only eight films selected internationally by Straight 8 to premiere along side the Cannes Film Festival in May 2018.
Born in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Thomas has maintained a passion for filmmaking since his early years, writing and directing a diverse range of cinematic works from narrative shorts to corporate ads to music videos. Having lived a nomadic life, Thomas has made films on three continents, and his travels have ultimately led him back to the north, where he and his brother Gabriel operate Bullen Brothers Films, producing cinematic narrative work in Canada’s Yukon Territory.
Remaining true to his roots, Thomas is committed to bringing northern stories to the screen, working to achieve this goal in collaboration with musicians, documentarians and storytellers. Between 2020 and 2022, Thomas directed the six-song visual album, Senior Year, for the rock duo Soda Pony, adding to a repertoire of music videos for other prominent Yukon artists including Matthew Lien, Major Funk and Paris Pick. Thomas also remains actively involved in narrative fiction filmmaking, with several short films under his belt, including his 2021 drama short Weight, which screened at the Available Light Film Festival, the Dawson City International Short Film Festival, and picked up a quarter-finalist award at the Canada Shorts Film Festival.
